Good Dog Bar

A re-imagining and re-branding of an existing bar in center-city Philadelphia. Good Dog Bar is a bar located in center city Philadelphia with an emphasis on dog adoption and ownership. With this in mind, I sought to re-imagine the bar’s web presence as well as its overall theme and branding. This concept focuses primarily on the bars online presence, shifting the brand from a modern and contemporary bar to a more refined, pub-style bar with a classic theme. Additionally, the new site and social media profile emphasizes the bar’s devotion to increasing pet adoption from local shelters.

Prototype

To align with the rebranding of the website, I created a series of Instagram posts and templates to create a cohesive and eye-catching social media presence.

Good Dog Bar’s Instagram page at the time primarily acted as a notice board for regulars and Philly locals to keep up to date with events and promotions. To expand upon this, important events and promotions are now visually cohesive, accented by the new autumn palette. In between events, adoption spotlights are made to further highlight the importance of shelter adoption to the management and customers alike.

Creating a cohesive social media page.

In order to tie the classic pub theme to the dog narrative, I decided to create a series of silhouette portraits of dogs wearing lavish outfits and hats.

The dog silhouette portraiture is also present in the new logo, further tying the theme and message together. Additional portraits could be made of various breeds to be sold as merchandise by Good Dog Bar.

Using silhouette portraiture to further accentuate the theme.

A major aspect of rebranding Good Dog Bar was creating a new website that modernized the bar’s web presence while retaining a classic and old-school feel.

To do this, I used texture, color, and pattern that coincides with the existing material for the brand that I had made. The homepage of the site features a painted portrait of a dog wearing a top hat, followed by the bar’s existing slogan. Below, an adoption spotlight and optional newsletter help connect the bar with customers as well as further highlight the brand’s message. The site’s menu features the silhouette portraits as seen earlier, in addition to a dog-bone pattern that emulates vintage wallpaper patterns.

Tying everything together in a web-friendly way.
