PLASTICO

A music store concept with a focus on physical media both new and old. The site would accompany a physical location and act as a web store for music and merch. With an emphasis on gritty, grungy textures, the brand theme emulates the wear and tear of aging physical media. Inspiration for Plastico was found in imagery of past music formats such as vinyl and mini-disc. Use of plastic wrap and packaging led to the creation of the name, assisting in the physical and grungy aesthetic of the brand. A faded, lightweight color palette further emulates the appearance of age, giving the website a more dynamic and textured feel.

A web store that connects to your local music scene.

a modern and polished appearance while emphasizing the old and rediscovered.

While the website emulates old music media visually, it employs the use of fluid motion and navigation to give it a modern and polished feel. Carousel navigation creates a memorable element to the site, featuring prominent parts of the brand and site. Vertical scrolling remains present throughout, creating a simple and easy to navigate interface that is scalable on any page.

Making navigation memorable and intuitive.

Since Plastico is largely a shop for physical music media and merchandise, the shop page is a vital element of the site’s structure.

Continuing the theme of fluid motion, each section of the site expands from the center of the screen giving the feeling of cohesion. The vinyl page is lightweight, displaying nothing but the albums to look through.

adding the web shop

Plastico aims to make the connection between music sale and live events. Smaller, local artists are integral to the music scene in each major city, and upcoming concerts are displayed accordingly.

Having a newsletter allows shoppers to stay up to date on local events and venues, in addition to updating users on new releases and limited edition runs. Raising awareness of smaller groups and artists connects Plastico with its audience, and establishes a local presence that would otherwise be absent given the brand’s largely online format. For those who live near a physical location, a “find us” page makes visiting easy.

Supporting local artists and promoting upcoming events.
